It’s been an exciting fall with 5 elementary schools participating in our fall programming. The most exciting aspect has been the addition of our new Learn2Lax – Mini program for students in CD and Kindergarten (Check out the photos below)! We’ve also were fortunate to bring our North Charleston ES group to their first ever lacrosse tournament! The boys did a fantastic job representing their school and our organization.
Lastly, we are beyond thrilled to announce that we have been accepted into the Urban Lacrosse Alliance (sponsored by US Lacrosse), and were awarded US Lacrosse’s National Diversity grant to help expand our programs. We look forward to learning from other organizations and using the grant money to create our first ever HS club team in partnership with North Charleston HS. We are very excited for the start of 2017!
Much of the 2015-16 school year has been filled with our CORE program expanding into more and more schools. This past month, we got to celebrate the growth and excitement of our programs with our 2-5 graders at Memminger. In front of a packed gymnasium of community members, parents, and staff, our students showed off their scooping and shooting skills in a game of Steal the Bacon. It was an exciting time for our students and for our organization. We look forward to our next Show What You Know later this spring at Sanders Clyde Elementary.
As the new school year begins, the COASTAL Lacrosse staff is preparing for another great year of lacrosse in Charleston, SC. We are proud to announce that we will be continuing our partnership with WINGS after-school at North Charleston Elementary and Burns Elementary this fall.
It is with great excitement to share the awesome news about our expansion! This summer, we were accepted to participate in the CCSD Expanded Day Pilot program and will also be offering our CORE program at Memminger, Mary Ford, Sanders Clyde, and Chicora throughout the 2015-16 school year. Due to the generosity of the public, we will also be adding a GEAR Up program for a boys and girls team at Burns Elementary. It is our plan to provide equipment to each athlete at no-cost to participants and provide them with competition opportunities in the spring.
We are so proud of all the athletes who participated in our Jamboree last year and we hope that many will continue with us this year. We have big plans for this year’s Jamboree and can’t wait to begin practice this week.
Thank you for your continued support of our programs and allowing us to provide high-quality programs to our youth.
Cheers to a great 2015-16 school year!
Today we received one of our best donations yet. Thanks to Peter and Sons Shoe Repair, we are able to sport these fresh new Coastal Lacrosse jerseys. Our athletes are going to be showing them off at our Jamboree this Thursday at N. Charleston Elementary School from 3:30-5:00 pm. Come check out these awesome jerseys and our incredible athletes in person if you have time.
Even 900+miles couldn’t keep our latest supporters, East Catholic High School Boys and Girls Lacrosse Teams, from donating such amazing equipment to our organization. We are excited to put this great gear to use with our awesome athletes. It is kind and generous people like you that help our dreams become a reality. Thank you from the entire Coastal family!
It was another great week with our athletes at Chicora, N. Charleston Elementary, and Memminger. The amount of progress being made by the athletes is impressive to say the least. Four athletes were shining stars during lacrosse practice both for their skill and positive attitudes. Congratulations to Jordan, Brayan, Janice, and Lyrik! Keep up the great work!
Congratulations to Shalid “Soup”, Brayan, and Tyquan for being selected MVP’s at our #Wingsforkids lacrosse programs. Each of these athletes demonstrated respect for the game and their fellow athletes and improved tremendously with their lacrosse sticks! Keep up the great work!
